It exited her.
She spent nights with him. They hoped for a miracle.
He couldn't have children.
She couldn't conceive.
I guess it was meant to be. He was furious at the thought of missing out on fatherhood. He fell into the arms of Alcohol. She escaped his abuse into the arms of his brother…
Into his brother's bed.
She knew his brother had a wife, but she was desperate for a child. One day she felt in her stomach, another heartbeat. In her ignorance, she showed him. He pressed his palm against her belly and smiled. A smile she hadn't seen in a while.
He was happy.
His smile melted. The heartbeat wasn't his, it was another's…reality hit him, he couldn't have a child. She shared the bed of another. He knew now.
First he cried. His inside made way for a monster.
He hit.
He growled.
He destroyed.
She bore it. For him. Soon, she gave birth to a beautiful boy. He had the hair of his father. She cried, sending the baby to his real father. She never saw him again.
Her name is Nephthys. She lives in the Nile now.
His name is Set. He lives alone.
Both of them long for each other, yet remain apart.
Their son's name is Anubis. He never met his parents.
Nephthys comforts herself every night. She knows Set loves her. But the fact that keeps her alive is that her son's eyes were red.
